Disused Churches Wanted

Do you have problems like this horror story? Want to sell your church or land?

Call to board up disused church - Friday 9th February 2007

SMOKE billowed out a disused church after a pile of papers were set alight in Blackheath.

Temporary watch manager Kevin Webber said he suspects someone has been living in the church.

A make-shift bed was found within the building.

We would like to buy land belonging to disused churches of many descriptions ranging size and features.

Plots4Building would like to hear from churches that may also want to dispose of surplus land.

Old churches tend to create unique conversions based on their own unique architecture as seen on numerous television programmes covering the renovation of churches. They have have highlighted the potential for unique large family homes, featuring fanatasic architectutal designs using the natural features to their fullest.

Sometimes they can be converted into multiple apartments but in any case they have an underlying value of the land that they are built upon.

It is easier for planning, budgets and reselling for the church to be without a graveyard, have no covenants attached and ideally not listed of which there are plenty throughout the UK.

Location, location, location....

The sort of planning permission that can be agreed, depends upon wether the churche is for sale in a city or built up area. Inner city churches have more positive results in gaining planning for apartments where as planning departments are generally keener for house conversions with churches in rural locations, .

The best conversions retain the unique architectural features of the church complimenting the original features, injecting a contrasting, modern feel.

Church gardens can boost development potential and maximise profits to their fullest but graveyards have legal restrictions upon building over them.

Churches for sale with large gardens can provide land to gain planning permission for increased units.
